CIA cooking demos

One of our favorite food related weekend activities is attending cooking demos at CIA Greystone (Culinary Institute of America) in St. Helena, California. The demos last about an hour and feature single dishes made entirely from scratch, which are composed of fresh, seasonal, local and sometimes unusual ingredients i.e. galangal root. The instructors are very knowledgeable and encourage attendees to ask lots of questions and take notes on provided recipe printouts. At the end of each demo you get the opportunity to taste the finished recipes (this is our favorite part.) The demos cost $15 per person (this price also gets you a 10% discount on anything purchased at the campus store.) The demos start at 10:30 am or 1:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. We generally attend the 10:30 class on Saturday, so send us an email (50milefoodie@gmail.com) if you would like to meet up with us. Here is a calendar of upcoming demonstrations. See you there!

  1. Thanks for information. It's great to know for myself but also to pass along to friends going to the area. The price for demos is so reasonable!
